Osgood / Leino in, Brad May to NOT stand up for teammates from the Press Box

Hat tip to JJ from Kansas, who directed me to Khan’s latest, uber-timely article. Chris Osgood spoke with the confidence we all expect from him regarding his first start in just under a decade coming against a high-octane offense like Washington’s:

At the start of the year, Howie didn’t play for about a month and then I didn’t play for a month. To me that’s not a good way of doing things, to let one guy get stagnant.

Team guy, all the way.

Mike Babcock defended his decision by saying, “He was due,” which is loosely translated as “Run off at the mouth some more and I would have held out until you found a way to go back in time and match up against the 1980 Soviet team.” If you’ve been living under a rock, Jimmy Howard had started twelve straight, and this will be Chris Osgood’s first start since December 20th.

In other, less depressing news, Brad May is returning to the press box (YAY!) and Ville Leino comes back in (oh….). Leino has been a healthy scratch three games in a row.

From the “who cares” department: Jason Williams says he’s about 10 or 14 days away from returning. At least that means BOTH May and Leino will have to be benched, then. Huzzah.
