Season 3

  • Episode 24 (2/13/12) :: CHRIS CONNER
    • Hometown Hero: what’s it like to sign with the Red Wings after growing up rooting for the team? Any chance we see him in a Red Wings uniform next season?
    • Dallas and Pittsburgh were nice, too. Some excellent insight into the decision-making process of players who are on the cusp on the NHL. Do you want to go to a team where you can be a full-time NHLer, or is it better to be a member of a great organization like the Wings and Pens?
    • Hitting the bars. Conner’s not much for the bar scene, but he confirms some rumors regarding which Griffins spend the most time in front of the mirror.
    • Saving Princess Peach. The last task is a foot race… who gets a kiss from Mario’s wifey: Conner, Helm, or Mursak? Also, if he was forced to create himself on NHL12, which attributes get the most attention?
    • Twitter. With more and more Griffins popping up on social media, how likely is it that we hear from Conner in 140 characters?
    • Disney Princess. You know we asked him.
  • Episode 23 (1/31/12)
    • All-Star Festivities: Whose shootout goal was better — Kane or Perry — and can we all agree that they’re both douches?
    • Columbus? The Blue Jackets will host next year’s game…will that save hockey in Ohio? Hint: no.
    • Trade Deadline Approacheth. Will the Wings make a move? Who might be on their radar? Who can they get rid of for a return?
    • Lundqvist or Howard. Who do you build your team around? Stand by for a doozy.
  • Episode 22 (12/16/11) :: MITCH CALLAHAN / NICK BARNOWSKI / SARAH LINDENAU
    • The Pipeline: Mitch Callahan :: A great chat with a great kid, the Griffins tough guy shares some stories from the road and gets the full TPL treatment.
    • Call-up :: Hollis was en route back to Seattle and Petrella was back in the captain’s chair. Did someone say Technical Difficulties? Fret not, Disch and Stevie are there to pick up the pieces.
    • Your Mustache Sucks, Too :: We offered Mitch (@emcy1five) a change to respond to Brendan Smith’s comments on the last episode about Callahan’s mustache. Turns out Smith is a super model, so he knows what’s hot.
    • Fan Moment :: What an awesome chat with a talented and promising young man, Nick Barnowski (@NickBarnowski). He tells us about his time in the Wings locker room, making friends with some of the guys, and shares some college plans. Make sure you follow his blog at www.nickonsportsblog.com.
    • Thirty Good Minutes :: Sarah Lindenau (@lindy72) of The Left Wing Lock swings by for a kick-ass chat about the prospects, the likelihood of a Wings deal, and whether or not this team is on Championship track.
  • Episode 21 (12/1/11) :: BRENDAN SMITH / MATT SALER / CLARK RASMUSSEN
    • Substitute Teacher :: Hollis is out of town and someone left Petrella in charge. Big mistake? Big mistake.
    • The Pipeline: Brendan Smith :: We chat with the Griffins defender and the Wings’ top prospect for a few minutes about his call-up to the Bigs and everything else we could think of to throw at him. Wait until you hear his favorite word.
    • Doug Janik Story Time :: Smith says that Janik is one of the best guys to grab a beer with… find out why.
    • I Love You, Man :: What’s Brendan’s pet peeve with his roommate, Gustav Nyquist?
    • Thirty Good Minutes :: Excellent guests this time as we welcome back Matt Saler of On the Wings — and have Clark Rasmussen of DetroitHockey.Net on for the first time. Both get the Lipton Treatment. Curmudgeon!
    • Topics of Interest! :: Re-allignment is back on the slate, as is Bobby Ryan, tradeable assets, Jonathan Ericsson, and the world coming to an end any minute now.
    • Stealing the Show :: Mrs. Saler hops on the phone to select a Disney hunk, forcing Matt’s hand.
    • Defenestration :: We learn new words sometimes. As new words go, that one’s really fucking good.
  • Episode 20 (11/17/11) :: THE CHIEF
    • LESS CLICKING!: In fact, NO CLICKING! SO IT ACTUALLY SOUNDS LIKE A REAL SHOW!
    • 30 Good Minutes: The Chief from Abel to Yzerman stops by. Buckle up tight.
    • Defending the Gradient: The Gradient of Failure – our newest addition to TPL – has garnered plenty of attention and feedback. Now it’s our turn to defend ourselves and set the record straight.
    • Jersey Hatred: Stevie goes off on the new abominations the Islanders rolled out, and it’s not because they are fugly as all get out.
  • Episode 19 (10/20/11) :: MATT SHEA / JJ FROM KANSAS / GRAHAM / PUCK BUDDYS
    • Fan Time!: Contest winner Matt Shea (@SpaceCityMatt) joins us to talk Doug Fister, NASA and moon theory. Look out for big words.
    • 30 Good Minutes: JJ and Graham from Winging It In Motown stop by. Did someone say Ville Leino?
    • On the Dot: Doug Johnson from Caps blog Puck Buddys stops by to verbally joust with the group about this weekend’s matchup with Ovi and company. He also talks about TPL asses.
    • The Pipeline: Now a part of TP:60, The Pipeline returns this week with Wings goaltending prospect Thomas McCollum.
  • Episode 18 (10/14/11)
    • The start of a new year means it’s time to dust off the recording equipment and get back to business. TP:60 business that is. We’re back for another year of Detroit hockey’s best podcast, and things started a little differently this time around: recording the show during last night’s game against Vancouver.

The Pipeline

  • Tomas Jurco (10/18/11)
    • The Pipeline rolls on and this time we are thrilled to welcome YouTube and Red Wings training camp sensation Tomas Jurco to the show. Tomas talks with Petrella, Disch and Stevie about his incredible training camp, his future with the Saint John Sea Dogs and what he feels like he needs to improve upon before he finds his way to the AHL and eventually to the big club. Jurco also talks about playing with the big names on the Red Wings, how he kills time with his teammates and the growing legend of Chris Chelios’ workout regimen before squashing Disch’s dream of christening him with the
      nickname of “The Jerk.”
  • Gustav Nyquist (10/6/11)
    • We’re back for Season 2 of “The Pipeline” and what better way to get us started than spending some time with one of the standouts of the Red Wings training camp, Gustav Nyquist. Gus talks to us about life in Grand Rapids with the Griffins, what his daily training routine looks like and what he took away from his time with the Wings in training camp. He also dishes on Chris Chelios’ tan, who would win in a shootout between former Maine Black Bears and (of course) which Disney Princess he would like to take out for a night on the town. Another promising Swede and another promising season of “The Pipeline.” It’s good to be  back.
  • Cory Emmerton (3/4/11)
    • It’s time for another installment of “The Pipeline” and this time the guys welcome in current Grand Rapids Griffin and occasional Red Wing call-up Cory Emmerton. In his third full season in Hockeytown West, Emmerton has all the tools to be a skilled forward in the NHL, and we touch on some of the nice things Coach Babcock and the organization have to say about his future in red and white. On a day off before back-to-backs with Rochester, Cory was kind enough to take a few minutes to chat with us about hockey in the AHL, what it was like to net his first big league goal, and where his allegiance lies in the Great Portman / Kunis Dust-Up. He’s a great kid and we had a lot of fun with him — we hope to check in with him again before the end of the season.
  • Riley Sheahan (2/22/11)
    • It’s time for another installment of “The Pipeline” and this time the guys welcome in current Notre Dame forward Riley Sheahan. Currently a sophomore at ND, Sheahan was drafted in the first round (21st overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft and is a promising two-way forward with a physical presence to boot. Sheahan has tallied 3 goals and 14 assists this year, all while helping lead Notre Dame to the top of the CCHA standings. With a big home-and-home looming this weekend against Western Michigan – and the CCHA regular season championship on the line as well – Riley was still able to take some time out of his schedule to chat about his experience at the Draft last year, the emergence of hockey at Notre Dame and which NHL player he patterns his game after. Riley also gives some insight into the never-ending quest to find a Brett Lebda statue on ND’s campus, as well as answering the TPL Five Pack of questions to close things out.
  • Petr Mrazek (2/16/11)
    • The newest installment of “The Pipeline” features Red Wings prospect and current Ottawa 67′s goaltender Petr Mrazek. Behind Mrazek – the 5th round (141st overall) pick of the Red Wings in the 2010 draft – the 67′s currently sit atop the OHL’s Eastern Conference East Division, largely in part to Mrazek’s 2.79 GAA, .922 save percentage and 28 wins. Mrazek will look to move into a tie for the league lead wins this year tonight against the Belleville Bulls, but first took a few minutes to chat with Petrella and Hollis about the transition to the North American game, his connection to the Red Wings and what it will take to elevate his game to the next level.
  • Landon Ferraro (2/11/11)
    • It’s the first installment of “The Pipeline” and who better to break in the hot seat than Red Wings prospect Landon Ferraro. Hollis and Petrella chat with Landon about his first season with the Everett Silvertips of the WHL, his progression and development as part of the Red Wings system and how he’s coping with being sidelined from hernia surgery. The guys also get the scoop on which member of the Ferraro clan is truly the best hockey player, as well as who would reign supreme in a fastest skater competition between Landon and Darren Helm.

Season 2

  • Episode 17 (5/3/11) :: CAPTNORRIS / MIKE SERVEN
    • Patriotism abounds on the newest episode of TP:60 as we welcome back Greg (@captnorris5)  from The Winged Wheel and also welcome good friend Mike Serven (@mserven) – owner of the @RedWingsFeednews stream – to the show. Nothing is off limits with these guys in the house, and the discussion kicks off with a brief overview of Greg’s wall art before diving straight in to the current state of the Red Wings. We kick around the idea of the Wings rallying back to make this a series again before diving into a plethora of Twitter questions from you, the listeners. Topics include Justin Abdelkader’s stick work, the health of the Mule, breaking up the twins and whether or not Todd McLellan is a better coach than Mike Babcock. Serven’s presence also re-ignites the TP:60 “Night of Enchantment” question series, and there’s even a call to action for all of you listeners out there.
  • Episode 16 (4/16/11) :: SEAN GENTILLE
    • It’s Chris Hollis and Michael Petrella holding down the booth as Rob Discher is off Hosecopping his way around town, but that doesn’t mean the dynamic duo is left in the dark. Old friend and show regular Sean Gentille of the Sporting News stops by to break down all of the happenings in each of the playoff matchups, provide the keys to success for each of the series, and give Craig Custance flack for his Flyers love affair. The crew also discusses the benching of Mike Modano and the newly enforced ban on octopi being thrown in Detroit, which – according to Gentille – is somehow like the US War on Drugs. It’s another fantastic episode with an old friend of the show, which means you won’t want to miss a second.
  • Episode 15 (2/10/11) :: NATALIE / TRIPLE DEKE TYLER
    • It’s the first ever TP:60 recorded during a game. Hollis and Petrella are back in studio, holding down the fort while “Horescop” Rob Discher works his magic somewhere in Texas. Joining the fray are good friends of the show Triple Deke Tyler and Natalie from The Scrappy Octopus, as well as the newest TPL member, @stevieroxelle, jumps straight into the mix as well. The group takes a quick pass through the recent troubles that the team is facing before diving straight in to storyteller hour with Petrella, who regales us with tales of travelling with the Wings. Following the stories, the group tackles the comments made by Coach Babcock following the 4-1 loss to the Predators and tries to figure out who needs to step up and light a fire under the Winged Wheelers. Of course, it can’t be a TP:60 without the hat trick of questions, and all three sets of answers won’t disappoint.
  • Episode 14 (1/28/11) :: SEAN GENTILLE / JUSTIN BOURNE / RYAN LAMBERT
    • Our good friend Sean Gentille from The Sporting News joins us, alongside Puck Daddy’s Justin Bourne and friend of Red Wings fans everywhere, Ryan Lambert. The guys break down who has impressed the most in both conferences and offer up predictions on who will contend for the Cup this summer, before tackling the topic on everyone’s mind this weekend: the All Star Game. From the selection process to NHL’s Guardian project, every angle of the game is addressed, which opens the door for a highly entertaining debate about which player would you build a team around for a single year. Of course, Lambert runs through the hat trick of Discher questions before the end of the show, capping one of the most entertaining  TP:60 episodes to date.
  • Episode 13 (1/24/11) :: GRAHAM HATHWAY / GEORGE MALIK
    • TP:60 is back and in your ear this week, albeit without host Chris Hollis. Rob Discher holds down the captain’s chair yet again (despite another round of technical difficulties that makes him sound like a dance remix) and leads fellow TPL’er Michael Petrella, WIM’s Graham Hathway and the newly returned George Malik in a vibrant and entertaining discussion about the Wings woes, Evgeni Nabokov and the upcoming All Star break. The gang also explains Hollis’ mysterious disappearance this week and gets ready for the last week of hockey before the TPL/WIM All Star Showdown.
  • Episode 12 (1/12/11) :: ELLEN / JESS
    • Hollis is back from Vegas, Petrella is kicking it NYC and Disch enjoys his hummus down in Austin as the boys host TP:60′s first recognized “Ladies Night” with Ellen from Big Red Machine and Jess from Bingo Bango. The squad tackles the spotty play of Jimmy Howard, how comfortable Joey MacDonald makes Wings fans feel as Jimmah’s backup and whether or not Henrik Zetterberg was actually “snubbed” from the All Star Game. The group also casts themselves as members of the “Ocean’s 11″ franchise, while also talking about everyone’s best “shootout” moves. One word: HorseCop.
  • Episode 11 (1/6/11) :: JOE YERDON / JEFF HANCOCK
    • The boys were without Host Extraordinairre Christopher J. Hollis, and the damn thing nearly blew up on the launch pad. ALAS, eight hours later, we’ve figured out the ins and outs of the underground world of podcast publication, and Disch and Petrella are proud to bring you the first episode of 2011, featuring very good friends of the program, Joe Yerdon from Pro Hockey Talk at NBC and Jeff Hancock from Brendan Smithsonian Institution. Give it a listen and hear about Jimmy Howard’s “struggles” when compared to Chris Osgood’s “miracle season” and Joe lets us all know what it was like at the Winter Classic before we devolve into some more Disney talk. Hint: Nude Ren.
  • Episode 10 (12/20/10) :: JUSTIN BOURNE / SEAN GENTILLE / JEN MACROSTIE
    • First, the guys unwrap a discussion with Justin Bourne from Puck Daddy, talking hockey, the league and motivation, before jumping into the holiday five pack of ridiculous questions. Then, Greg from The Winged Wheel serenades everyone with “The Jiri Hudler Motivational Song,” which is all but guaranteed to turn your late-shopping frown upside down. After that, Sean Gentille from The Sporting News pops in to answer all the questions that he’s submitted to the panels during this season, while of course chatting a bit of hockey as well. Finally, Jen MacRostie of H2H2 stops by with glad tidings and threats about paying for March’s extravaganza in Detroit.
  • Episode 9 (12/15/10) :: CASEY RICHEY / MATT SALER / ILARI FILPPULA
    • Hollis, Petrella and Disch are joined by Casey Richey from Winging It In Motown and Matt Saler from On the Wings in welcoming Grand Rapids Griffins “rookie” Ilari Filppula to the show. Ilari talks about his transition to the American game, how he sees his game developing and what his expectations within the organization are. The older Flip also breaks down who would win in an arm-wrestling match between him and Valtteri, what movie he defaults to during a day on the couch and (of course) which Disney princess is the one for him.
  • Episode 8 (12/8/10) :: JJ FROM KANSAS / BRIAN JAMES
    • Hollis, Petrella and Disch are back in the studio, joined this week by our good friends J.J. from Kansas from Winging It In Motown and Brian from The Scrappy Octopus. The gang takes a look back at a rough two game stretch for the Wings and wonder if it’s time to push the panic button before going into the weekly “Hound on Hudler” session. The guys also heap the praise on a rejuvenated Jonathan Ericsson before sending the show off a cliff with a second straight week of Disney princess talk. The show also (briefly) welcomes in a special guest, who’s cliffhanger answer will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat.
  • Episode 7 (12/2/10) :: KRIS / CAPTNORRIS
    • The family is all back together again as Hollis returns to the show with Disch and Petrella, and the guys also welcome in Kris from Snipe Snipe, Dangle Dangle and Greg from The Winged Wheel. The group covers a number of Red Wings topics – including Dan Cleary, the hot start to the season and keeping the intensity up for both players and fans – before veering into uncharted territories in TP:60 Land. After answering a pair of unorthodox questions from one of the regulars on the show, the gang enters into a debate that may never allow you to see Disney characters in the same way, before finally offering up some thoughts on the upcoming week for the Red Wings.
  • Episode 6 (11/23/10) :: ANDY / GRAHAM HATHWAY
    • Petrella and Disch take the reigns while Hollis struggles to find his way home in the mess that is Seattle weather. Joining the show this week is our old friend Andy from Fight Night at the Joe, as well as the third member of the Winging It In Motown “hat trick,” Graham Hathway aka “Amerinadian.” The guys tackle everything from the week that was in Red Wings hockey, from the wins to the goals to the lack of top-line production, as well as the idea that playing for a single point is a “good” thing. Andy and Graham also answer the Willa/Duff debate, and the group talks about the launch of Operation: Curly Fries.
